This jersey comes to us from the personal collection of a prominent European-based international hockey official.
This pro-weight jersey was manufactured by Nike and is similar to the jerseys worn by the Swiss national team at the IIHF's 1997 Pool A World Championships, which were held in Helsinki, Finland. The jersey features sewn-on name and numbers and has a fight strap.
This special jersey was used by the IIHF to honor forward Richard "Bibi" Torriani, when he was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural class of 1997. Torriani played for Switzerland in the 1936 and 1948 Olympics and the 1934 World Championships. Along with Hans Cattini and Pic Cattini, Torriani was part of Switzerland's "Ni-line", which was one of the best forward lines in Europe from 1933-1947.
